Tunbridge Wells Street Teams

Please see links to websites for local oraganisations

The Street Team, which is made up from volunteers from various local churches, hand out hot food and warm clothing to the people who have found themselves for whatever reason, homeless in Tunbridge Wells. The aim is always to provide support both emotionally and otherwise to help move them onto a better place in their life, but right now while they remain homeless they are at the mercy of many things including the weather. If you have any spare warm clothing, hats, gloves, warm jackets/coats, shoes, boots, socks and/ or sleeping bags, blankets and small rucksacks - any old ski gear that no longer gets used, then please bring them along to school and we will collect them. Thank you very much for your help in this matter.

LifeSprings Cafe - Tonbridge High Street

Hi Jean
Can I ask you to ask all churches to talk to their congregations about supporting the outreach work at LifeSprings Cafe in the High Street.
Also to let everyone know that we have a new minister and family joining us in September!

Starting in September we need:

1) volunteers to support young adults with learning disabilities ( who are capable of running the cafe but need adult support). This would be  3 hours - on a Tues, Wed or Sat) -  a DBS check would be necessary, but it may be possible to arrange this.

2) People with a passion - to set up clubs of different kinds, based in our cafe.  If they could sell the existing products (push button coffee machine, biscuits and cakes) it should cover the cafe running costs. We are looking for book clubs, quilting, drawing, board gamers,  learn to play...... ukeleles or other instruments, dementia cafe  etc,   but are open to ideas.  Clubs need to be 'donations for materials' only - and open to the public in the mornings and some afternoons. Some closed sessions available.

3) Fundraising or awareness Saturdays - Need 2 people from a specific charity or group to open the cafe  and use the space to promote their organisation and /or run a Bring and Buy sale or similar.  Most people doing this recently have raised around £100 for their cause. It is a great spot on the High Street!

4) Christians with a listening ear - who don't want to be involved in running the cafe at all, but would sit at a table any day 10-12 and just talk to people generally or as they are led.  The cafe is full of people who need support of all kinds or just want to chat to someone. We need people who could pray with people if asked.  It is warmer than Healing on the Streets and you get free drinks & a snack!
